Millie Bobby Brown: Stranger Things star criticized for her new project

The interpreter of Eleven is under fire from criticism after the publication of her first book, inspired by the life of her grandmother.

Millie Bobby Brown is a multi-tasker. Between two shoots, the 19-year-old young woman is not sitting still: she has launched her makeup brand, she is actively preparing her marriage to Bon Jovi’s son and she has just published her first book.

Not an autobiography, but a fiction inspired by the life of his grandmother in the middle of the Second World War. We follow Nellie Morris, a young Londoner who falls in love with an American soldier.

The plot is inspired by a historical event, that of the airstrike bombing of Bethnal Green tube station which left 173 dead on March 3, 1943. Millie Bobby Brown’s book, out on shelves today, is only available in English language at the moment.

If the project is more than laudable, the Stranger Things actress attracted the wrath of many Internet users – under a tweet from the publishing house which has since been deleted – for a very specific reason: she called on Kathleen McGurl, a ghostwriterto write his book.

If she is credited on the inside pages, it is Millie Bobby Brown’s name that appears on the front cover. A process that is not uncommon in the industry…

“Not particularly targeting Millie Bobby Brown. But if someone like her needs a ghostwriter, then maybe we don’t need books written by celebrities.”

“A big thank you to my colleague without whom it would not have been possible”

Especially since the actress has never hidden having worked with an author for Nineteen Steps, even sharing a photo alongside him on Instagram. On its website (now inaccessible, but relayed The Guardian) the British writer specializing in historical fiction explained that the Millie Bobby Brown family sent her a lot of information and ideas about the grandmother’s story, and that they discussed the subject several times.

The interpreter of Eleven thus had several versions of the book validated before publication.
