By October 1st, millions of Germans will lose their fully vaccinated status. The reason for this are new requirements that were laid down in the Infection Protection Act in March 2022. Updates for the Corona warning app and the CovPass app should also appear and inform those affected if their vaccination status is no longer sufficient. The Federal Ministry of Health provides information about the changes.
How to be considered “fully vaccinated” from October 1st:

After three single vaccinations (the last single vaccination must have been given at least three months after the second single vaccination)
–
After two single vaccinations: PLUS positive antibody test before the first vaccination
OR
PLUS a SARS-CoV-2 infection detected by a PCR test before the second vaccination
OR
PLUS a SARS-CoV-2 infection detected by PCR test after the second vaccination; 28 days must have passed since the test
These rules have applied so far:
– After three single vaccinations
– After two single vaccinations
– After a single vaccination plus a positive antibody test before the first vaccination
OR
plus a SARS-CoV-2 infection detected by a PCR test before the first vaccination
OR
plus a SARS-CoV-2 infection detected by a PCR test after the first vaccination; 28 days must have passed since the test.
Up to 12 million people affected can lose vaccination status
The Federal Ministry of Health has calculated that up to 11.8 million Germans could lose their vaccination status by the reporting date. Of the 63.4 million vaccinated people in Germany, 51.6 million have received one or more booster vaccinations. However, since many potentially affected people have survived a corona infection after the basic immunization, they are also considered to be fully vaccinated under the new regulation. In this case, you only have to store your test result in your corresponding app.
Doubly vaccinated individuals can regain fully vaccinated status with a booster vaccination.
