The consequences were burnout, financial problems and alcohol addiction. She sought help from Alcoholics Anonymous. Four years ago, the native Croatian managed to successfully rehab and has been sober ever since. Mimi Fiedler has now given up acting.

Ava tells of intense and difficult moments, of her helplessness and her optimism. “She was a very good mother, despite her problems,” she says of living with the disease. She always trusted her mother and knew that one day she could overcome the addiction.

In the past, Mimi Fiedler tried to maintain the appearance of impeccable life. It was always tidy at home, fresh flowers were always on the table. “I was the perfect housewife. And outwardly the perfect mother,” says the actress, but adds: “There are situations in Ava’s life that I just don’t know anymore.” This also includes the day her daughter, who is now an adult, starts school. “I was under such stress internally that this construct didn’t blow up,” explains the 46-year-old.
