Minecraft unveils its 3 new mobs in competition to integrate the game

As announced this week, Minecraft will soon integrate a new mob in its next update, and for that, you will have to vote for one of the three contenders in the running during the next Minecraft Live in October. After teasing the announcement of the three creatures, Mojang has revealed the names and functions of all three.

Vote for the Rascal

The mob seems hide in mineshafts and is not hostile by nature. This is the one who had been teased as “playing hide and seek” and snooping around in the dark watching players mine. Finding it three times, he also drop an enchanted pickaxe. Its full description can be found here.

Vote for the Tuff Golem

Its name had been found by the community during the teasing: the Tuff Golem is a new Golem that players can encounter, and therefore a passive mob that can turn out to be hostile if you hit it. The mob takes the form of a statue and can carry an item. But when he wakes up, he starts to go around the base and collects objects that have no owner. Find out more here.

Vote for the Sniffer

A few hours earlier, Mojang unveiled the Sniffer, a passive mob that visibly revives species disappeared. This animal from a distant past can sniff the flowery earth and take out seeds to grow ancestral plants. His page is here.

This mob has given rise elsewhere to a meme since it looks a lot like the 2020 and 2021 proposals with the Moobloom and the Glare, all three being plant-based mobs, and quickly overshadowed by the presentation of the second suitor…

We’ll see if the curse of the mob-plant continues this year: Voting starts October 14 and the winner of the three will be added to the game, like the Allay during MC Live 2021.
