The new civil service minister, Stanislas Guerini, has indicated that he is preparing to “hand over” at the head of the presidential party. “I now want to be fully devoted to the mission entrusted to me by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister in the government,” he said.

Appointed Minister of Public Service in May, the general delegate of Renaissance, Stanislas Guerini, is preparing to “hand over” at the head of the presidential party, he declared in an interview published Thursday evening by Le Figaro. “I will naturally remain committed to my party, but it is for me the right time to hand over, after three and a half years of work and commitment alongside our militants”, affirmed the one who has also just been re-elected deputy for Paris.

“Fully devoted to [ma] assignment”

“I want to be now fully devoted to the mission entrusted to me by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister in the government”, continued the Minister of Public Service, a few days before an announced reshuffle of the executive. The remarks made Thursday evening by the boss of the presidential party confirm the departure intentions that his entourage had already lent him in recent days. Although he did not give a precise timetable for the election of a new party leader, Stanislas Guerini already seems to have in mind a possible successor in the person of MEP Stéphane Séjourné.

The latter “carries out very important work to lay the foundations of the future presidential party. He has a taste for organizations, a political sense and a recognized talent”, complimented the general delegate in the interview granted to the Figaro. Stanislas Guerini’s statements come two days after his first major announcement as minister, namely a general increase of 3.5% in the salaries of public officials, which will come into effect on Friday.
