Miraculous on TF1: a character comes out as a lesbian to the delight of internet users

The episode of “Miraculous, the adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir” broadcast this Sunday, May 7, is being talked about on social networks. It was indeed the scene of the coming out of one of the main characters.

Miraculous, the adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir never ceases to be talked about. After facing controversy in March 2022 following the censorship of footage on the French police, the animated series caused a stir again this weekend.

Episode 17 of season 5 of the cartoon, broadcast this Sunday May 7 on TF1, marked a turning point in the history of the series, since it was the scene of a lesbian coming out from one of its main characters.

In this episode, Zoé indeed reveals to Marinette that she is not in love with Adrien, but with her. If the heroine is initially surprised by this confession, she still takes her friend in her arms before telling her that she is flattered. Zoé takes the opportunity to encourage Marinette to confess her feelings to Adrien.

This scene, widely shared on social networks since its broadcast, is historic for Miraculous, the adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir since it is the first time that viewers have witnessed the coming-out of one of the main characters.

Zoé thus becomes the first openly lesbian character in the series. Because if the cartoon includes many protagonists from the LGBTQ + community, their romantic relationship was most often implied. This is the first to say so publicly.

If the appearance of an openly lesbian character in a children’s series has not been to everyone’s taste, some Internet users declaring themselves “shocked” to see such a sequence, many have welcomed the fact that TF1 is broadcasting this scene at prime time.
