New to “Unter uns”: Mirja du Mont reveals how her everyday life has changed as a result of the shoot and what her children say about their new job.
Mirja du Mont (45) will be in the RTL daily “Unter uns” (5:30 p.m. or via TVNow) to see. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the actress explains what she has in common with her role Mareike Ott and why the casting for the role was “really weird” for her. She also reveals why the filming posed a particular challenge and how her children reacted to the new TV job.
What can you reveal about your “Among Us” role?
Mirja du Mont: Mareike Ott has a daughter, Zoe. The two are very close and are a well-rehearsed team. Mareike is a fighter and has little money. She meets Constantin Lücke aka Till Weigel, who at first glance doesn’t seem very likeable to her …
Her role Mareike Ott is described as a spirited blonde. Did you find it difficult to put yourself in the role?
Du Mont: No, it wasn’t difficult for me. I also love my children more than anything. In addition, just like Mareike, I don’t let my butter be taken from my bread and openly say what I think.
You are celebrating a small acting comeback on the series. Why did you feel like standing in front of the camera again?
Du Mont: I love to play. Funnily enough, I had the same director for “Unter Uns” at times as for “Forbidden Love”. It’s great to put yourself in other people’s shoes.
What is it that fascinates you about acting and what do you find negative about it?
Du Mont: I don’t find anything negative about acting. That has always been my greatest passion. As a teenager I was already in the Theater AG, that is where it all started. In the past few years I have already played musicals. Now it’s a soap again and I love it.
What do your kids say about their mom being a serial star now?
Du Mont: My children are happy for me! My son said: That’s what you wanted. Cute!
How has your everyday life changed as a result of the regular shoot?
Du Mont: It’s very difficult for me. I currently live in Cologne and try to come home every weekend, which doesn’t always work because we sometimes shoot on Saturdays. But my parents are really bailing me out!
The role wasn’t given to you, you had to go through an audition. How did you experience this and why do you think you were able to convince?
Du Mont: I was very excited! My first casting for the role was online due to Corona. That was really weird. I had to play online with my play partner Constantin Lücke. Really weird. In the next round I was in Cologne and we could play together. The chemistry between us was right immediately. And my caster said it was exactly what she wanted.
How does the collaboration with the experienced colleagues on set work? Have you got any tips from you?
Du Mont: Yes, my colleagues are great! They immediately welcomed me in a friendly manner and helped me further. At no point did I feel as though I was bothering me.
What is the special feature of the “Unter Uns” series for you?
Du Mont: This series is an institution that has been hugely successful for 26 years. It’s an honor to play here. The fan club does such a great job and everyone tries so hard; really amazing.
How long will you be on “Unter Uns”?
Du Mont: I’ve been with “Unter Uns” for a few months. Two have already passed in a flash.
Do you also like to watch series and soaps privately?
Du Mont: I love soaps. My first big soap love was “Reich und Schön” when I was 12 years old. Then “Forbidden Love” from the very beginning. I like to get distracted at a set time each day.
