Since her divorce, she finally feels like herself

Sky and Mirja du Mont parted on good terms in 2016. A lot has happened in the 45-year-old's life since then. But all of the hurdles ultimately paid off, as she reveals in the interview.
Mirja du Mont, 45, and her then husband Sky du Mont, 73, were married for 16 years. The public probably never expected a breakup. All the more surprising then was the end of love five years ago. In an interview with "Bild am Sonntag", the model talks about her existence today and what dream of life she absolutely wants to fulfill.
Mirja du Mont: "Now you can finally see what I really am"
Even today, Mirja and her ex-husband are good friends and have two children together. And yet the 45-year-old is only now describing an attitude towards life that she seems to have lacked in marriage. It was only after the separation that she was able to develop and live out the way she always imagined. She doesn't care what other people think of her. Happiness and joie de vivre are what count more. "Sometimes it feels as if my outer shell has peeled off in the last four or five years and now you can finally see what I really am," says Mirja du Mont.
Mirja du Mont wants to emigrate
The 45-year-old raves about a life apart from the public; start over in a distant land. The goal of du Mont is to have its own bed and breakfast in Cape Town. The dream is still postponed, but not canceled. "When my children have finished school and have graduated from high school, I would like to emigrate," she explains in an interview. Sky and Mirja du Mont's daughter Tara is now 19 years old, her and son Fayn is 14. The mother of two can implement their plans to emigrate in a few years.
