Misfortune in front of the disco – pedestrian (33) dies in a car accident in Vienna

A 33-year-old man died in a traffic accident on Schönbrunner Straße in Vienna-Meidling on Saturday night. The pedestrian is said to have crossed a protective path with a red light with his 24-year-old companion. The two were then hit by a car. The man died from his injuries on the spot – the woman was seriously injured.

According to police reports, the pedestrian was walking with his companion on Schönbrunner Straße in front of the well-known U4 discotheque when he wanted to cross a protective path. According to initial investigations, the pedestrians are said to have crossed the street when the light was red – the 73-year-old car driver was no longer able to brake in time and a fatal collision occurred. Car driver had a green light. The 33-year-old died on the spot shortly afterwards 3 a.m. his serious injuries. According to police, the 24-year-old woman was seriously injured. Emergency services from the Vienna professional rescue service provided the accident victim with emergency medical care and took him to a hospital. The driver of the car, who had the green light on his way into the city, remained uninjured. The traffic accident command of the Vienna State Transport Department took over the investigation into the accident. Further investigations are being carried out by the responsible police station.
