Miss France 2024: the surge around Miss Lorraine’s dress has gone too far…

You can’t please everyone. During the election of Miss France 2024, which took place in Dijon on December 16, the candidates paraded on stage in a creation highlighting their region. Like all of his adversaries, Angeline Aron-Clausselected Miss Lorraine, took part in the game and revealed herself with a table hung around the waist, on which a tablecloth and food were placed. Unfortunately for her, this set created by Maël Charton did not receive the expected reception. On the web, this dress – which was one of the most commented sequences of the evening – wasted no time in being criticized, even mocked. The creator of this piece wanted to react to this surge, this Wednesday, December 20, with BFMTV.

I suspected that it would cause concern, but I didn’t think it would arouse so much malice. Humor, for sure, I knew there was going to be some, it’s not every day you see a table dress“, commented Maël Charton, who lived “a bit of a roller coaster“during this election evening. Delighted that his creation aroused interest, the young 26-year-old creator quickly lost his enthusiasm: “Internet users have a lot of humor and I was the first to laugh about it, because I am full of second degree and self-deprecation, also about my work“, he stressed. But over the course of the evening, the person concerned discovered of the “naughtier things“, notably “violent and disproportionate attacks.” Speaking to BFMTV, the stylist claimed to have received “insults in public and even in private, because people didn’t stop at a few comments, they also came directly to my private social networks to continue insulting me“.

Miss France 2024: why Miss Lorraine was dressed… as a table

During the traditional parade in regional costume, Miss Lorraine wore a hat, a tray and a table-shaped dress with several flagship products from its region placed on it. If this atypical dress, to say the least, was obviously not unanimous on social networks, Maël Charton tried to explain his inspiration : “Costume on the theme of gastronomy brought in a funny, extravagant and assertive way! Trying to innovate and move away from the evening dress with regional elements stuck on it… It was a bias, it couldn’t please everyone!“, he wrote on (formerly Twitter, editor’s note). Fashion, a matter of subjectivity…
