MIUI 14 would be the last version of the overlay, MiOS arrives in 2024

According to leaker Digital Chat Station, MIUI 14 will be the last update for Xiaomi’s overlay. If this turns out to be true, we are only a few months away from the launch of MiOS, the operating system which is secretly in development by the manufacturer. However, remember that Xiaomi has already confirmed the existence of MIUI 15.

The bombshell was dropped at the end of the summer. Secretly, Xiaomi is reportedly developing MiOS, its in-house operating system which would position itself as an alternative to Android, until now installed on all its smartphones. The latter would still be able to support Android applications, and would mainly serve as a platform for the manufacturer’s autonomous car before establishing itself on its other devices.

If we can still question the veracity of this information, the leaker Digital Chat Station, very informed about Xiaomi’s internal plans, seems more and more convinced. He who had already provided some details on MiOS now declares that the launch of the operating system is closer than we think. According to him, MIUI 14 would even be the last update for the overlay, suggesting that the next step would therefore be the deployment of MiOS.

MiOS could arrive as early as next year

“It is confirmed that MIUI 14 will be the last official major version of MIUI”, writes the leaker on the social network Weibo. “As the latest version of MIUI, MIUI1 4 can be considered an excellent “graduation project”. The core experience is at the top of the industry, but the animation effects still lag behind. I hope that the new project will completely eliminate this gap. »

Logically, this would mean that MiOS would be launched next year, instead of MIUI 15. However, it is better to note that the translation presented here seems risky. Indeed, Xiaomi has already confirmed the existence of MIUI 15, via the announcement of the Redmi K60. It is therefore likely that MIUI 15 and MiOS will coexist during a transition period, if only to be available on Xiaomi’s electric car, which has already been seen in China. Still, things are coming to fruition for the operating system which could completely reshuffle the cards on the market.
