Miyabi Kawai: Curvy women make this styling mistake again and again

Wear dark colors, put on vertical stripes and please just choose nothing figure-hugging – there are innumerable supposed "fashion rules" that Curvy women have to listen to again and again and which ultimately lead to them standing uncertainly in front of the wardrobe at home, instead of relying on one's instinct in fashion.

Miyabi Kawai thinks it's a shame and totally wrong. The fashion professional knows exactly how we put our curves in the limelight and proves this among other things in his collections for the fashion house Sheego. The designer has set itself the task of encouraging women to reflect their own personality in their clothes. Because one thing is certain: curves are no obstacle to a trendy look. In an interview with BRIGITTE.de she reveals:

The most common mistake is to only rely on concealing. If the focus is on looking as slim as possible or hiding, you can see that in the outfit and it cannot be fashionable, trendy or an expression of personality. The other side sees an all black look as uncertainty.

So instead of always grabbing the broadest and darkest outfit, it is important to consider what you might prefer to see yourself in. In a bright red outfit? In a tight-fitting dress with a statement shoulder? Or in a cool pants suit with a wild pattern? We should trust our own taste, says Miyabi Kawai.

It is better to wear what you really want and conceal (if you want). This works if you know the right cuts for your own body type, emphasize the advantages and work with the darker tones and matt materials on the crucial areas.

Confidence in yourself is the basis for a good look and essential if you are still looking for your own style. Dress or pants, plain or patterned – if you are still unsure, you should do one thing above all:

Try, try, try. If you like it, wear it. Courage, nothing can happen!
