After the clash in the ring between Booba and Kaaris which ultimately never took place, it is the turn of the internationally known Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg to make the buzz. Indeed, it is likely that they will meet on August 26 for an MMA fight, but should we see a good publicity stunt or a real discord?

It is a confrontation for the least unexpected which could be held on August 26: Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. These two heavyweights of the internet and social networks, among others, are now well known to the general public for their eternal rivalry. The billionaire at the head of Tesla and now Twitter (renamed X), therefore had the good idea to challenge the founder of Facebook to an MMA fight, in an ancient ruin as he wishes.

But we can already say that CEO of Meta imposes itself by slowing down the game. This Sunday, on his social network Threads, Mark Zuckerberg conceded that it was time to move on, calling his rival “not serious”. Mark Zuckerberg adds that he is ready for this duel if he is framed and charitable. Faced with this wisdom, Elon Musk continues the grotesque provocations, filming himself carrying dumbbells and publishing their private messages.

Already 100 million Internet users on Threads

In short, for now these exchanges amount to much ado about not much. Or perhaps to hide the free fall of Twitter, which has lost 50% of its ad revenue and two-thirds of its value since Elon Musk took over a few months ago.

On the other hand, for his potential future opponent, this hypothetical fight sounds like a real publicity stunt after the announcement in early July of his Twitter-like application Threads. A real threat to the historic little blue bird application since Threads was an immediate success in the United States, bringing together more than 100 million users in five days. Proof that the real fight is indeed on the canvas and not in the barnyard.
