Mobile phone contract under 10 euros: The best offers on the network from Telekom, Vodafone & o2
Do you already have a smartphone and only need a suitable tariff for it? The search for a cheap cell phone contract for less than 10 euros can be quite annoying, because there are countless offers with different conditions. In addition to the price, the amount of data volume and the network play a decisive role in selecting the best deals. We have looked at all the tariffs in the Telekom, Vodafone and o2 networks and in the following overview only present mobile phone tariffs under 10 euros, which currently offer the best price-performance ratio.
How do I find a good mobile phone contract for less than 10 euros?
Note the following points to find a mobile phone contract for less than 10 euros that is perfectly tailored to your needs:
- Network: Telekom, Vodafone or o2? The choice of the cellular network depends primarily on where you live, because the regional differences are still considerable. In cities, Telekom, Vodafone and o2 are almost on par, outside the situation is different. In rural areas, Telekom has the lead, followed by Vodafone in second place and o2 in third place. Since these are average values, in case of doubt you should ask neighbors, friends and relatives from your place of residence which network they have had good experiences with.
- Data volume: In addition to the network, the amount of data volume plays a decisive role in the pricing of a mobile phone contract. The more data volume, the more expensive the tariff is usually. A bargain is especially in sight if you can get as many gigabytes as possible for less than 10 euros a month. After using up the included volume, most providers throttle the tariff to such a low speed that mobile surfing is almost impossible.
- Speed: In megabits per second, the providers indicate how fast downloads and uploads are possible in the best case. Here, too, the following applies: the more Mbit / s, the better – although the maximum speed is rarely reached. Almost all essential applications can be carried out from as little as 21.6 Mbit / s, from writing WhatsApp messages to watching YouTube videos. Most tariffs under 10 euros offer LTE speeds of up to 50 Mbit / s, which is completely sufficient.
- LTE & 5G: Fortunately, there are hardly any tariffs without LTE. Anyone who is still stuck in an old contract without LTE should urgently cancel, because the old cellular standards will be switched off in the near future. 5G does not yet play a role for cell phone tariffs under 10 euros, because the new standard is currently only available in the expensive tariffs of Telekom, Vodafone and o2 direct. 5G is not necessary anyway – and only very few have a 5G-capable smartphone at the moment.
- Telephony & SMS: Almost all cell phone contracts under 10 euros include a flat rate for telephony and mostly also for SMS. However, since hardly anyone writes SMS any more and more and more messengers such as WhatsApp and Co. are used when making calls, the amount of data volume plays a much more important role when choosing a tariff.
- Contract term & notice period: The classic mobile phone contract has a minimum term of 24 months with a notice period of 3 months. If the contract is not terminated in due time, the contract will be extended for a further 12 months. Inexpensive SIM-only mobile phone contracts under 10 euros can often be booked without a term, with a notice period of 1 to 3 months. However, you usually have to pay a slightly higher (one-time) connection price for this.
- Data automatic: If the data volume is used up before the month is over, a few hundred megabytes are added automatically. However, this has its (high) price, so it is better to book a tariff that contains sufficient data volume and deactivate the automatic data transmission.
Take your phone number with you: this is how it works
Most of us want to keep our phone number when we change contracts. Mobile phone providers are now even obliged to release the phone number in the event of termination and to transfer it to a new provider. The costs for this are also clearly specified by the legislator: maximum 6.82 euros may cost the port. Often this amount is taken over by the new provider. You can see exactly how phone number portability works in the video.
