Model Q – Tesla plans 4 million cheap electric cars per year!

Tesla is planning a cheap electric car below the Model 3 – and apparently on a large scale: the US compact is to be produced in huge numbers.

According to media reports, the group is planning four million vehicles per year. For comparison: In 2022, Tesla built a total of almost 1.4 million cars, of which around 1.3 million were Model 3 and Y. The price should help when the ambitious number of units for the entry-level model is reached: the last statement by Tesla boss Elon Musk put the base price in 2020 at $25,000 net, i.e. around 23,000 euros. And that seems to be holding up: Musk recently stated that there is “a clear way” to build a car that costs half as much to produce as the Model 3. The affordable entry-level model will be on a new platform, which reduces costs accordingly. The new model will be a smaller version of the Model Y and will be able to drive largely autonomously. Musk has not yet provided any further information, not even about the size of the car. But there are suspicions: Tesla could save on the batteries that BYD could supply in the cheaper iron-phosphate technology (LFP). After Elon Musk had already discarded the model name Model 2, “Model Q” is now in the room. We are talking about three drive or range versions: Long Range, High Performance and a version with just one motor. The range should not reach the previous models and should be up to 400 kilometers. The strongest Model Q should be able to complete the standard sprint in under four seconds. Design and development happens in a new development center in the Gigafactory in Shanghai. Tesla was looking for specialists with this ad: New factories are coming This model is to be built in factories all over the world, with two million units alone being supposed to take over the American plants, especially the one in Mexico. One million each should come from Shanghai and Berlin-Grünheide. The plant in Mexico is scheduled to be completed in nine months, and the first compact SUVs could roll off the assembly line in around a year. But that’s just the beginning: Musk wants to increase annual output to 20 million units by 2030 – twice as much , as Toyota – the largest car manufacturer in the world – is currently selling.
