Model S Plaid – Tesla smashes Porsche’s Nordschleife record

It is the competition of the electrical giants for the record on the Nordschleife: Porsche Taycan against Tesla Model S. After Porsche had narrowly beaten Tesla in the summer of 2022, the Americans trumped with the Tesla Model S Plaid at the beginning of June – and drove the Taycan downright to the ground!

But one after anonther. in September 2021, a Tesla Model S managed a time of 7:35.579 minutes on the Nordschleife. That was not only better than the Taycan, which had previously held the record, but also a powerful mark of around seven seconds. Almost a year later, a Porsche Taycan Turbo S with a performance kit and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control came just under (by two Seconds). And now this: Tesla is not satisfied with individual seconds. Racing driver Tom Schwister set a time of 7:25.231 on the Model S Plaid with the optional Track Pack, which includes aerodynamic improvements, 41cm carbon ceramic brakes and cup tires, and a top speed increase to 322 km/h minutes into the 20.8 kilometer route. That’s eight seconds again! The colleagues in Weissach should slowly run out of shame. Nevertheless, it is to be expected that they will strike back again. So far, the running gear and chassis have been the top areas of the Porsche, but now they will also have to improve performance. The currently most powerful Porsche Taycan (from 193,000 euros) delivers 761 hp, while the Model S Plaid (from 132,000 Euro) comes as standard to 1020 hp. With the Track Pack, which will cost between around 14,000 and 18,000 euros, the full potential of the vehicle can be explored.
