A few days ago, the Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority sent a letter to the social network Twitter to express its “deep concern about Twitter’s ability to maintain a safe environment for users of its service” , in particular due to the large number of departures within the company.
Arcom (ex-CSA) sent a letter to the social network Twitter, bought a few weeks ago by the American billionaire Elon Musk. In its letter, the Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority expresses its “deep concern (…) about Twitter’s ability to maintain a safe environment for users of its service”.
Doubts about the ability to combat the dissemination of hateful content
Because since the takeover by Elon Musk, many employees have been fired from the social network, at the same time as others left on their own. Arcom therefore wonders if Twitter can still ensure the moderation of content, despite such a reduction in staff… Concretely, the organization wonders if the company is able to comply with the law, because it requires it in particular to fight against the dissemination of hateful content online.
In its letter, which dates from last Friday, Arcom therefore asks for guarantees, to be sent no later than Thursday. In particular, it would like confirmation “that the company is able to meet the obligations imposed on it by law” and to inform Arcom “of the short-term development of the human and technological resources devoted to compliance with these obligations”.
