It is indeed on the occasion of this Summer Game Fest 2022 that the next title ofInfinity Ward decided to show some of his gameplay. If the date of June 8 marked a cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, this time we have the right to images of its gameplay featuring our dear Captain Price and Task Force 141 through what should be the game’s campaign.
Although we have already had some information such as the absence of missions like “No Russian” in the Story mode, yet present in the Modern Warfare 2 of 2009, this new video allows us to have a true preview of its content and new gameplay features.
Modern Warfare 2 reveals the gameplay of its campaign
As reported by Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare’s first gameplay reveal demonstrates a campaign mission titled Operation Dark Water. As its name suggests, this one is more focused on the new aspects of the gameplay with in particular the mechanics related to everything that comes close to the sea, swimming, water in general, and this operation then plunges us into the depths of the sea.
This mission finds its plot”somewhere in the Gold of Mexico“, and three fire crews are en route via speedboats to an oil tanker. Aboard one of the boats is Commander Graves of Shadow Company. The mission? Task Force 141 and the Shadow Company must infiltrate said platform and do a major cleanup in order to be able to disarm a huge missile that is supposed to be there.
In the images shown, the player is in the role of Soap and walks behind Commander Graves, in order to help him eliminate all enemies. It is from the moment when Ghost confirms by a radio call that the missile is indeed present that everything will degenerate. Graves and Soap immediately go to the weapon, except that the controls are missing. It was then that a high commander demanded that our men stop this launch.
The rest of the images are quite impressive since the environment in which our characters find themselves is more realistic than ever: the panicking sea, the rocking oil rig with the containers sliding and almost crushing a few men. In short, we really believe it.
A Modern Warfare 2 more realistic than ever
Shortly after the release of the gameplay images, we had the right to the intervention of Jeff Negusresponsible for the cinematics of Modern Warfare 2. According to him, the developers have decided for this title to create a totally dynamic environment, so that the elements of the decor can move, and above all more realistic than ever.
This is indeed what we have seen, with, as we have told you, the huge containers that begin to slide on the platform. However, if some players still have doubtsJeff Negus made it clear that these were indeed gameplay images and not cutscenes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should be a turning point in franchise historyand the developers are focusing more than ever on this title which should restore the image a little.
