Modern Warfare 2’s “abused” price enrages the community

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will cost at least $70 or €69 even on PC and previous generation consoles. Gamers have been quick to criticize Activision for this change.

We’re just months away from the release of Modern Warfare 2 on October 28, and pre-orders are live on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Battle.net. After releasing the reveal trailer on June 8, Activision revealed all Modern Warfare 2 editions and their prices.

Players can either purchase the standard/cross-gen edition of Modern Warfare 2 for $70/€69 or the Vault Pack for $99/€99.99 which includes the Battle Pass, exclusive skins and more. This confirmed that the cheapest version of MW2 will cost almost 70€ and the reaction was immediate.

Activision

Even via Steam Modern Warfare will not cost less than 69€.

While current-gen titles have embraced the $70 price tag for quite some time now, PC and previous-gen titles have stuck at 60 for the most part. However, previous-gen players can only purchase Modern Warfare 2’s €70 cross-gen bundle, and the PC version has also been priced up.

“There is literally no justifiable reason for this”PTRCrispy said on Twitter, while Stariz called the move a “flight” because'”they make more money than ever and still charge $10 more”.

Call of Duty makes the majority of its money from microtransactions like Shop Packs and Battle Passes, and many have raised this point in response to Modern Warfare 2 costing at least $70.

“70 dollars for a game full of microtransactions and a season pass? I do not think so”said “Fanta”.

The more time passes, the more the games increase. In addition, the dollar / euro conversion is becoming increasingly cumbersome and is clearly not justified in this type of case.
