Molotov can no longer broadcast TF1 channels in its free offer

This is the consequence of an unfavorable judgment for Molotov and the sign of the failure of negotiations with TF1. In a statement released to the press on February 7, the television broadcasting service announced to its great regret that it was no longer able to broadcast the TF1 group’s channels for free. This concerns the first channel, but also TMC, TFX, TF1 film series and LCI.

TF1 channels become paid on Molotov

Concretely, Internet users who launch the Molotov application will be able to see the unavailability of these channels with the basic and free formula of the platform. To regain access to the programs broadcast by the French giant, the leading private media group in France, you have to go through the Molotov Plus formula, which is billed at 3.99 euros per month.

If you try to click on a channel in the group, you will see a window appear on the screen stating that ” the new conditions set by the TF1 group unfortunately no longer allow us to offer you the TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 film series and LCI channels for free “. A similar obstacle concerns the channels of the M6 ​​group, for identical reasons.

This is not the only bad news for Internet users using Molotov: the service has also had to stop the distribution of TF1’s pay channels for the time being, namely TV Breizh, Ushuaïa TV and Histoire TV. Discussions are underway with the audiovisual heavyweight, but nothing can say if they will be conclusive.

Paid access to TF1 channels on Molotov obviously raises questions, given the situation: these are indeed accessible free of charge in the clear on DTT (digital terrestrial television). But the platform can hardly embark on a financial showdown with TF1, especially since a first round in court went very badly for it.

Molotov, in his press release, states: regret this situation “, but wishes to recall that ” all the other TNT channels can be accessed free of charge on Molotov “. All, therefore, with the exception of the TF1 and M6 channels, which are among those draining the most audience. Not sure that, under these conditions, Internet users will put up with it.
