Momentum 4: Sennheiser is gradually lifting the veil on its next headset

After Sony and its WH-1000XM5, Sennheiser is about to announce the release of its new portable headphones, the Momentum 4. New design, improved comfort, top-flight acoustic performance and daunting autonomy are on the program.

Almost three years after the release of the Momentum 3, it was time for Sennheiser to launch its successor in order to come and walk on the toes of Sony, Apple and Bose. Despite the lack of information distilled by the German brand, it is now possible to draw a brief portrait of what the Momentum 4 should be.

The first novelty concerns the drastic change of design. As one of the pictures reveals, the Momentum 4’s headband would be covered with a nice-looking mesh fabric and the sliding rod attachment system would be similar to what Sony offered with the WH-1000XM5. This fourth version would also be lighter and feature earpads covered in synthetic leather. A guarantee of feelings of comfort “exceptional”depending on the brand.

Beyond its promise of extreme comfort and its new look, the Momentum 4 would embark on a new acoustic architecture, equipped with 42 mm speakers, offering “remarkable dynamics, clarity and musicality for superior Hi-Fi sound”, according to Sennheiser. The tone is therefore set. To achieve such performance, the manufacturer would have tilted the speakers slightly to allow “to direct the sound slightly forward, towards the ears of the user in order to provide a more natural soundstage”.

Sennheiser also promises us clear calls, effective active noise reduction and a gigantic 60 hour battery life. It remains to be seen whether the latter is given with or without the noise reduction engaged. Latest information: the release is scheduled for next August, but no price has been announced. The Momentum 3 having been launched at 399 €, there is no doubt that the Momentum 4 should be at the same price level.
