Monaco and Lille are finally launching their season, Angers temporarily takes the lead in the championship

Four days after its cruel elimination in the Champions League play-offs against Chakhtar Donetsk, Monaco rebounded well by winning, in Troyes (2-1), its first victory of the season in Ligue 1, on the fourth day, Sunday August 29.

ASM, with a solid performance and more pronounced efficiency than in Ukraine, can thank its young attacking midfielder Sofiane Diop, author of a decisive double (40e, 58e). Ruben Aguilar, by equalizing against his camp, as against Chakhtar Donetsk, had relaunched the Estac in the meantime (51e).

Admittedly, Niko Kovac’s players were not as brilliant as on Wednesday, but they were reassured by winning this first success in the league which allows them to leave the relegation zone. The promoted Aubois, on the other hand, had a difficult month of August with only one point in four games and a place of red lantern.

Lille wakes up

Relief also on the side of Lille. After being slapped at home by Nice a fortnight ago, LOSC won at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium against Montpellier (2-1) and thus won its very first match of the season. The champions of France still had to fight against the Héraultais.

Because the players of Olivier Dall’Oglio had managed to return to the match by equalizing, thanks to the opportunity of Gaëtan Laborde at the end of the first period (45 + 4e) after the Lille opening score of Yusuf Yazici three minutes earlier (45 + 1e). But Jonathan David’s goal delivered quite a stadium. Lille will be able to approach the international break with a little serenity.

Angers, Clermont and Lens undefeated

At the top of the standings, Angers continues its perfect start to the season. The Angevins provisionally took the chair of leader by signing a third success (in four days) against Stade Rennes (2-0).

At the Raymond-Kopa stadium, Gérald Baticle’s players took advantage of a Rennes team that offered nothing, three days after qualifying for the group stage of the Europa Conference Conference acquired in Rosenborg (3-1), Norway . The Rennais scuttled themselves: first reduced to ten before the break following the expulsion of Loïc Badé (43e), they conceded the opening of the mark on an error of the goalkeeper, Alfred Gomis. Sofiane Boufal just had to push the ball into the empty goal (57e), imitated at the end of the meeting by the 17-year-old Mohamed-Ali Cho (88e). With five points in four games, Rennes, eighth, is advancing in slow motion.

Like Angers, Clermont confirms his invincibility in Ligue 1 this season. The case was however badly embarked in their Gabriel-Montpied stadium, since Metz led quickly 2-0 thanks to Ibrahima Niane on penalty (10e) and Arthur Desmas against his camp (29e).

But, like the draw hung in Lyon a week ago (3-3) when they were led 3-1 to the 80e minute, the Clermontois have not abdicated. Mohamed Bayo put his team in the right direction on a serve from Elbasan Rashani (35e). The roles were reversed in the second half for the goal of the equalizer (58e): Bayo to the pass, Rashani to the conclusion.

Pascal Gastien’s men are third in the standings while Metz, fifteenth, is still chasing his first success.

Strasbourg sinks Brest

Lens also remains undefeated at the end of the fourth day, and is in sixth place. With the reception of Lorient, the Sang et Or were held in check, but still managed to win the draw (2-2). After the opening of the brand by Jonathan Clauss (24e), the Lensois saw the Bretons equalize by Armand Laurienté (27e), then pass in front in stride by Thomas Monconduit (35e). This is Seko Fofana (70e) which ultimately allowed RC Lens to avoid defeat.

In the poorly classified match between Strasbourg and Brest, it is the Alsatians who come out of the water by signing their first success of the season (3-1). Sanjin Prcic (24th), Jean-Kevin Duverne against his camp (42e) and Adrien Thomasson (84e) scored for Strasbourg, Irvin Cardona scored the only Brest goal (26e). The Finistériens, eighteenth, have not yet won this season.
