At the Paris Motor Show, Renault lifted the veil on a concept car inspired by the mythical 4L.
A concept called 4ever Trophy: a new generation 4L, and 100% electric of course.
After the Renault 5, the 4L!
Last year, Renault created a surprise by formalizing its “new” 100% electric R5. A new generation version, of course inspired by the famous vehicle launched by the diamond brand in 1972, which should hit the roads in 2024.
As part of the 2022 Paris Motor Show, Renault has decided to surprise again, this time with a tribute to its 4L. A model launched in the early 60s and produced in more than 8 million copies, which will therefore soon return to concessions, in the form of an electric SUV.
The 4L back in electric SUV mode
For now, the car is presented in the form of a concept, called Renault 4ever Trophy. A way for Renault to formalize the off-road orientation taken by this Renault 4L of the future, which should make its first turns in 2025. The SUV will be 4.16 m long.
This Renault 4L “ new generation takes up certain elements of the car of the time (the front face, the trapeze rear quarter light, the rear lights, etc.), while embracing the modern prerequisites, starting with a 100% electric motorization. In detail, we find here a 100 kW (140 hp) motor powered by a 42 kW battery.
A model with a very adventurous look, with imposing body protection and a spare wheel on the roof, rally-raid style. Note the presence on the rims of a compressor, allowing to inflate/deflate the tires.
This new electric Renault 4L will be based on the CMF-BEV platform, just like the future Renault 5, with production ensured in France, in the Electricity of the brand. Availability planned for 2025.
