The Russian secret service FSB regularly accuses people of treason or sabotage. A man who is said to have provided financial support to the Ukrainian military has now been arrested in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
A former employee of the Russian online company Yandex has been accused of supporting the Ukrainian army and arrested. The man was accused of “high treason,” said the Russian secret service FSB.
He transferred money to the account of a foundation registered in Ukraine to finance “armored vehicles, ammunition, equipment and medicines for the Ukrainian armed forces.” The man was arrested around 400 kilometers east of the capital Moscow in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to the information, he briefly left Russia in the fall of 2022 after the announcement of partial mobilization in connection with the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. He later returned to Russia.
