Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak: Monsters and deadly stuffed animals for the 3rd update

It’s been a while since Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak was released, but new updates continue to arrive regularly. Without totally upsetting the content, they prove to be welcome additions for the most committed hunters. Here’s what’s on the menu for Update 1.3, which is slated to roll out on November 24, 2022 on PC and Nintendo Switch.

Awakened Elder Dragons

After the awakened Chameleos, which transformed a relatively slow monster into a frenzied horror, it was two other ancient dragons who managed to overcome the affliction of the Qurios and grow in power. The Awakened Kushala Daora and Awakened Teostra await hunters with Master Rank 120 and above. Far more deadly than before, they will reward hunters with new sets of armor that are as dark as they are powerful.

Gore Magala of Chaos

A mutant monster from the old generation games returns, with the Gore Magala of Chaos. As you may know, the Gore Magala molts, and it eventually transforms into Shagaru Magala, an Elder Dragon. But sometimes this transformation fails, resulting in a mixture of the two, completely furious. Available from master rank 10, this monster will have attacks from both halves, which will certainly make it a little more unpredictable, even chaotic. All that remains is to kill him and make a set of armor, also mixed.

Other additions and features

  • Paragons, companion NPCs like Fiorayne who can accompany you into battle on certain missions, have proven to be incredibly popular. It must be said that their AI is very well coded, and that it is really pleasant to see them talking and acting like madmen. The problem is that they are limited to a handful of dedicated special missions. With the update, that will be a thing of the past, and they will be able to accompany hunters on almost any mission, whether it’s anomaly investigations or normal hunts.
  • Speaking of anomaly, the system continues to grow in power. Investigations will ramp up to level 200, with anomaly quests that involve 7-star monsters, like the Fire Espinas, Enraged Magnamalo, Vulcan Bazelgeuse, and other fearsome monsters. For players who feel overwhelmed, the level may also be reduced.
  • To go along with this, new, more powerful and easier to configure Querious crafting upgrades are being added to weapons and armor. This will reduce the random aspect of the thing.
  • New event quests, with armor and cosmetics, will also arrive in the coming weeks. A new voice will also be made available for free.

DLCs

  • Of course, Capcom isn’t rolling out all of these updates out of the goodness of its heart. A plethora of new cosmetic DLCs are coming with the update. This will include 14 adorable plush weapon skins, like a Khezu Bowgun, or a Rathalos Greatsword, so you can feel like you’re slaying monsters without being violent.
  • Paintings, tattoos, voices and OST are also added to the online store.

Upcoming Monsters Upcoming Updates and Leaks

It’s not the end yet for Sunbreak. New updates are planned for 2023, with an elder dragon scheduled for winter when version 1.4 rolls out. More content is also coming in the spring with version 1.5, but its content has not been detailed.

The contents of Patch 1.3 lent some credence to a recent leak, which pre-listed the new monsters announced today. According to this same leak, the ancient dragon to come would be Amatsu. The other monsters would be Awakened Shagaru, Awakened Valstax, and a variation of Malzeno. This is however unconfirmed, and it could be false, so be careful.
