Planned for next year, Monster Hunter Wilds causes a sensation with each of its media appearances since its announcement last December during the Game Awards. Its two main trailers have so far allowed us to discover various monsters that will roam its ecosystems, including the terrifying Balaharathe mode Concentration and the bunch-frond. During his passage to the Summer Game Fest Live 2024he had given us an appointment at there gamescomwhere a demo will be accessible to the public on siteto discover a new insight during theOpening Night Live. Here we are, what’s new in the heart of the Forbidden Lands ?
Well, quite a few things, starting with a new region with lush vegetation, the Scarlet Forestin which resides the Lala Barinaa kind of giant spider pretending to be a beautiful rose. Also introduced is the one who is described as the ultimate predator of Windy PlainsTHE King Dau. A tour of a camp where NPCs make their living, AI-controlled hunters in support and many other details are visible, but we will have to come back for a release date.
- New Hunting Grounds: The Scarlet Forest, a new location revealed in the Forbidden Lands, is a lush setting with towering greenery contrasted by crimson-tinged waters. Like other ecosystems in Monster Hunter Wilds, the Scarlet Forest is a dynamic environment that experiences periods of abundance, inclement weather, and fallow periods that transform the landscape and the wildlife that resides there.
- New Monster: The Lala Barina is a creature that lives in the Scarlet Forest. Part of the Temnoceran class of monsters rarely seen in the series, the Lala Barina has spiky, spiked limbs and can expand its thorax into a massive, rose-like shape that is as beautiful as it is treacherous.
- Spotlight on the Apex Predator: Each region in Monster Hunter Wilds is dominated by an apex predator. Down below the Scarlet Forest, in the previously revealed Windswept Plains, a monster known as Rey Dau reigns supreme. First seen at Summer Game Fest, this flying Wyvern was revealed today in all its glory. A top predator in the region’s food chain, it is adapted to the harsh conditions of the Sandstorms that transform its dusty grasslands. It can unleash destructive electric attacks that threaten even the most experienced hunters.
- Support Hunters: Whether offline or online, Support Hunters can fill out the available slots in players’ parties. These helpful NPCs include Olivia, a hammer-wielding member of the Forbidden Lands Research Commission who, along with her elite Palico, Athos, will play a key role in the story.
- More Moves: In addition to new allies, Hunters can also engage their opponents in new ways. These include Force Duels, which block certain attacks and throw Hunters into a test of might, and Neutralizes, which interrupt a monster with a well-placed blow. Successful use of these new abilities can throw monsters off balance, providing critical openings or unleashing powerful special attacks.
- The Village Where the Wind Sings: The latest trailer also introduced Kunafa, a village that hunters will consider their base of operations in the Windswept Plains. One of many communities in the Forbidden Lands, this village has existed for generations and has its own unique culture. Shaped by its environment and the local wildlife, Kunafa raises livestock for cheese production and is also home to Seikret, the loyal mounts that will quickly become indispensable companions for hunters as they explore the wilderness.
- Continuous Exploration: When away from the base camp, hunters can embark on expeditions with a number of objectives in mind. Quests can be started by targeting a monster in the area using their map or simply engaging one directly in the field. Players can also prepare for the next hunt without returning to base by using their Portable Grill to increase their stats or by resting at a temporary camp. These forward operating bases are convenient places to manage items and equipment, serve as return points after fainting, and can be used as fast travel destinations.
Furthermore, over the past two weeks, the main game mechanics, the mode Concentration and the 14 different types of weapons (Great sword, Heavy Crossbow, Insectoglaive, Lancecanon, Hunting horn, Long sword, Volto-axe, Hammer, Light crossbow, Sword & Shield, Morpho-axe, Bow, Spear And Double blades) which can be handled were entitled to short videos, which were then combined into one, to be discovered below. Magnificent armors are visible there, for the pleasure of the eyes!
Monster Hunter Wilds is expected on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. In the meantime, the two role-playing games brought together in the Monster Hunter Stories Collection are available on Amazon at the price of €55.79.
