Moonfall: where did you see John Bradley, the interpreter of the conspiratorial scientist?

On the occasion of the releases of “Moonfall” and “Marry Me”, a small focus on John Bradley, a British actor revealed by “Game of Thrones” who is on the rise.

About ten years ago, the general public discovered the friendly face of John Bradley in Game of Thrones, via the character of Samwell Tarly. This week, he is playing Marry Me and Moonfall. Two very different films showing how his career is not limited to the HBO series adapted from the books of George RR Martin.

Born in 1988 into a Catholic family, John Bradley studied drama at the prestigious Manchester Metropolitan University, where he graduated in 2010. A decisive year, during which he was chosen to play Cardinal Jean de Medici in Borgia, but especially Sam in Game of Thrones (after having applied via the site of his university!).

During the eight seasons of this cult series (2011 – 2019), the native of Manchester played the best friend of Jon Snow, whose intelligence and honesty earned him the favor of the spectators. At the same time, he took part in two episodes of the series Shameless (2012) and portrayed the devoted Tyr Seward in Merlin (id.).

Sought after on the big screen, but in a rather shy way, John Bradley appears furtively in Anna Karenina (2012), then takes on more important roles in Traders (2015), American Satan (2017) and Patient Zero (2018), a zombie film remained unpublished in France led by Matt Smith and Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell in GOT).

If he leads a relatively discreet film career, the actor is experiencing an intense start to the year 2022, with two notable performances. He thus plays the friendly manager of Jennifer Lopez in the romantic comedy Marry Me. A performance showing, once again, how comfortable the actor is in the skin of benevolent characters.

But above all, John Bradley is at the same time showing Moonfall, the new disaster film tinged with science fiction by Roland Emmerich. He embodies, not without humor, a conspiratorial scientist lending a hand to Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson in a most vital space mission, since it is a question of preventing the collision of the Moon with the Earth.

The future of John Bradley seems to be on the right track as we will see him in series 3 Body Problem created by David Benioff and DB Weiss, the showrunners of Game of Thrones. This is an adaptation of the book The three-body problem by Liu Cixin, relating the first contact of humanity with an extraterrestrial civilization…
