Moral courage demonstrated – wheelchair users rescued from the pond

Five passers-by from Salzburg showed civil courage on Wednesday afternoon. Three men and two women rescued a 68-year-old wheelchair user who had driven over an embankment into a pond on the Ignaz-Rieder-Kai.

For an unknown reason, the 68-year-old drove an electric wheelchair unbraked over the embankment into a pond. The man from Salzburg, who is paralyzed on one side and unable to speak, could not have called for help on his own. Energetic passers-by (three men and two women between the ages of 26 and 37) immediately rescued the wheelchair user from the water. He received first aid from the Red Cross and was taken back to his dormitory.
