Morbihan: four young people killed after their car fell in the Nantes-Brest canal


The bodies of four young adults were recovered this Friday, February 11 in Pontivy in Morbihan, after their vehicle fell into the Nantes-Brest canal, for an as yet undetermined reason.

“These are four clearly identified young men, one was 33 years old, the three others around 22 years old, who were in training at the Pontivy adult training center”, indicated in an email the vice-prosecutor of Lorient, stating that first aid had been notified at 9:30 a.m.

“The first investigations carried out by the Pontivy research brigade, the Vannes criminal investigation cell and the underwater investigators of the gendarmerie tend to show that it was a road accident”, added the prosecutor. .

An ongoing investigation

According to Morbihan firefighters, the car was found in the canal and gendarmerie divers were mobilized for several hours to find the bodies.

An assistant to the mayor of Pontivy also indicated that the four young people were following the same training at the Gros Chêne Training Center and were in boarding school.

Investigations are continuing to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
