It is an appointment that all tennis fans are waiting for impatiently. On May 22, the Roland Garros tournament will open at Porte d’Auteuil. An event that will delight tennis fans who will be able to watch matches on France Télévisions throughout the day.

The public group has indeed announced a mobilization of its channels in order to offer viewers “exceptional coverage (…) with airtime from 11 a.m. to get to the end of the last match of the day.

But, as the saying goes, the happiness of some is the misfortune of others. In order to offer optimal coverage of the tournament on its antennas, France 3 will indeed deprogram the new episodes of Plus belle la vie between Monday 23 and Friday 27 May.

During this first week of the fortnight, France 3 will be on the air from 7:55 p.m. to 8:40 p.m., the slot usually reserved for episodes of Plus belle la vie. Matches which will then be followed, at 8:50 p.m., by the program Tout Le Sport, which will collect reactions and come back to the most beautiful moments of the day.

This is not the first time that Plus belle la vie has been canceled because of the Roland Garros tournament. Fans of the France 3 soap opera had also protested at the time against these programming changes by launching petitions which had prompted France Télévisions to change its system in 2014.

Since that year, the switch was made on France 4 so as not to disturb the broadcast of Plus belle la vie. But the broadcast of the Cannes Film Festival over this same period forced France Télévisions to review its plans.

Regarding the second week of competition, which will take place from Tuesday May 31 to Friday June 3, France 3 will take over from 7:55 p.m. if the match broadcast on France 2 is not finished. This therefore means that Plus belle la vie could once again be deprogrammed.
