More beautiful life: the producer reacts to the rant of Laurent Kérusoré

The day after the publication of Laurent Kérusoré’s cash interview, the producer of “Plus belle la vie”, Claire de la Rochefoucauld, wanted to speak about this controversy.

This is the controversy that has ignited the web for several days. During an interview for the magazine Ici Paris, Laurent Kérusoré, who interprets Thomas Marci in Plus belle la vie, expressed his anger at the stopping of the soap opera of France 3.

The actor notably regretted the way in which the announcement was made to the teams of the series, deploring that the boss of the public service, Delphine Ernotte-Cunci, did not come to tell them in person.

Ms. Ernotte didn’t even come to tell us the bad news, not even a letter. She sent one of her right arms. We were fired by an enarque who, in two years, will work in a bank or at Orange. Turn by an enarque, I don’t understand...”

Faced with this cash interview, Newen, the production company behind Plus belle la vie, wanted to respond. And it is with our colleagues from puremedias.com that Claire de la Rochefoucauld, screenwriter on the soap opera since 2008 and co-producer for three months alongside Serge Ladron de Guevara, reacted to the remarks after having had a telephone conversation with Laurent Kérusoré.

Distorted words?

I immediately called Laurent to get his version of the facts because I was quite surprised. Of course, I don’t agree with him at all.“, she explained. Regarding the speech made by the interpreter of Thomas in this interview, Claire de la Rochefoucauld prefers to give the benefit of the doubt to the actor.

“He finds that the article in Ici Paris has distorted his remarks and he really doesn’t like the image it sends back of him. He wants to finish the series in style and the article on the contrary sends back the image of someone embittered and hateful. For him, it’s not his state of mind and it doesn’t reflect the interview he had at all..”

Laurent is very affected. He feels like he’s been completely screwed“, she says, before adding “I don’t want the comments, distorted or not, of an actor to sow discord in an end to the series that unfolds as well as possible. […] he also did plenty of other interviews where he never made such comments. They took advantage of an emotionally complicated moment for Laurent.

A final hand in hand with France Télévisions

Faced with this controversy, the producer assured that the teams continue to work “hand in hand with France Télévisions“, and that she understood the decision made by the group: “They decided to end the series. This is the life of the series. A series ends after a while. We had 18 happy years. Objectively, the ending is going extremely well, both artistically and socially.”.

Claire de la Rochefoucauld also explained that since the announcement of the end of Plus belle la vie, human resources representatives from France Télévisions and Newen have been present in the Belle de Mai studios to receive the technicians. An artistic agent, Tamara Martin-Laval, has even been hired to accompany the actors until December.

It’s not life ending, it’s life changing,” concluded the producer. “We are going to make sure, like the end of the series, that it is as successful as possible”. See you on November 18 to find out what the final episode of Plus belle la vie has in store for us.
