Maybe a new remote for the next one Chromecast with Google TV. This one would be a little better equipped than the previous version and would include a few additional buttons.

The information comes to us from Mishaal Rahman, analyst and expert in Android technologies. While taking a close look at the latest beta version of Android TV 14, he discovered a video. You could see on it the contours of the future remote control designed for Google TV. The small device would have a slightly revised shape and sport new buttons.

A redesigned remote control

Even if the pill-shaped design remains substantially similar to that of the 2020 remote control, some differences should still be noted. A dial is now located at the front (a bit like on iPods), on the top of the object. The set of buttons on the remote control, however, has been moved to make room for what could be a new button. Maybe to control volume or change channels.

The bottom row of buttons also gets a new star-shaped button on the right. According to Mishaal Rahman, this could be a customizable command. Indeed, this feature was revealed during an information leak on the first remote control of 2020, but this was not the case during its official release.

Additional control options

Such a development, even if it has not been confirmed by the company, would be logical. Indeed, Google is currently in the process of extending the control possibilities on some of its flagship products such as the TV remote control of the Google Home application which offers many nice routines for example, or the latest Pixel tablet released this summer. When it is in “dock” mode, it allows you to have control over many features if your home is connected using the Google Home system.

We might know more about this new remote control on October 4th. Indeed, this is when the “Made By Google” event will be held, where the company will announce all its new product ranges. We will perhaps then know if this new design of the remote control is real, and if this famous star-shaped button really exists.
