While the whole of Austria will be in lockdown again from Monday, restaurants, retail and hotels in Italy will still be open. However, possible “lockdown refugees” from Austria are worrying the Italian authorities.
Carinthia alone, which has less than half as many inhabitants as Friuli-Venezia Giulia, continues to have around three times as many new infections every day as the Italian region. Currently, 3G and registration still apply when entering Italy. On the return journey to Austria, however, the 2.5 G rule applies (vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested). The controls are tightened by both states.
