More households eligible for the electric bike bonus in 2023

State aid for the purchase of an electric bicycle will be accessible to more households in 2023, the government announced on Tuesday, three months after launching an ambitious “bicycle plan”.

To support a larger number of French people in the purchase of bicycles, the eligibility thresholds will be raised, from January 1, 2023, to cover 50% of the poorest householdsexplained the Minister of Ecological Transition in a press release.

The eligibility threshold for this bonus on the purchase of a bicycle, which can reach 300 euros, will be increased to a reference tax income per unit of less than 14,089 euros, against 13,489 euros currently, according to the same source.

Extended award conditions

The conditions for awarding the reinforced bonus of 400 eurosintended for precarious people and the disabled, will also be extended next year, with a reference tax income threshold per unit rising from 6,300 to 6,358 euros.

Cycling is a real solution for getting around on short trips without polluting and fully contributes to the ecological transition. This transition must be accessible to all French people. This is why we have decided to extend these purchase aids throughout 2023, for the benefit of low-income households, said the Minister Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune, quoted in the press release.
