Game news More immersive than ever, Monster Hunter Wilds could well be THE action game of 2025! First video test
I was able to play Monster Hunter Wilds in preview at gamescom, the biggest video game show in Europe. A one-hour session that blew me away: Monster Hunter Wilds could be the big action game of 2025.
A story that sets the scene
Monster Hunter Wilds was undoubtedly the most anticipated game at gamescom. As evidenced by its queue of several hundred meters at the German show. It was legitimate that the crowd mobilized in Cologne since the next title of the saga was playable for the first time by the press and the public. Invited by Capcom, I was able to get my hands on the title planned for 2025 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series for a short hour and I thought (almost) only good things about it.
My gaming session took place in two distinct parts. The first focused on the very beginning of the game. Enough to learn more about the storyline of this Monster Hunter Wilds. If the plot is rarely the strong point of the games of the saga, this one promises to immerse the player a little more in his adventures as a hunter. I talk about it in my video preview, available below.
A hunt as if you were there
Of course, it’s the entire gameplay and technical aspects of the game that promise an immersion never seen before in a Monster Hunter. Something that I was able to see during my second playthrough, dedicated to carrying out a hunt.
To quickly come back to it, our hunter can now chain contracts without needing to return to a headquarters via a loading time. Enough to facilitate immersion, in the same way as the autonomy of the fauna. Inactive, I was able to observe the movements of certain animal troops by opening the map. Sometimes, other monsters would appear. They themselves had an impact on the behavior of other creatures. A “living” aspect that I also discuss in my preview video above.
To talk about it, there are also the controller sensations in hand that I was able to have. They remain excellent and are even increased tenfold compared to the episodes of the series. The mode Concentration and the Injuries (also explained in the video above), allow you to better understand a hunt, to make the fights more accessible. Without, however, curbing the feeling of accomplishment once the prey is defeated.
In short, there are many reasons to wait for Monster Hunter Wilds , especially if the small problems of fluidity and textures are resolved, next year. Because it is one of the titles that could eat the competition raw in the field of action games when it is released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
