More than 12 million sales for the Little Nightmares license

Arnaud Muller, CEO of Bandai Nacmo Europe does not hide his pride in the license Little Nightmares : “Franchise Little Nightmares met with success as soon as the very first episode was released, 6 years ago to the day. We are proud of the work accomplished by the teams at Bandai Namco Europe, Tarsier Studios, Engine Software and Supermassive Games, who have been able to create great games while developing the franchise on new media..”

How much ????

In three titles: Little Nightmares, Little Nightmares 2 And Very Little Nightmares (on mobiles), IP has established itself as a solid licence. Its gloomy atmosphere, its grotesque creatures, its cryptic stories, and its mix of puzzle and exploration hit the mark, and pushed the counter of copies past 12 million. Tarsier Studios’ latest official sales communications stated that Little Nightmares (released in 2017) had passed the 3 million mark in February 2021. As for Little Nightmares 2 (on the market since February 2021), it had reached 1.5 million copies sold in November 2021. The diptych is therefore listed as long-sellers, these long-distance runners in the video game landscape. The regular presence of the two titles (and their versions Full Edition And Enhanced Edition) in the Steam sale list must have been no stranger to such success.

In Bandai Namco’s official press release, Lucas Roussel, Publishing Director and Executive Producer of Little Nightmares, wrote a message of thanks to the fanbase: “We have been fortunate and pleased to see the community grow over time. During the development of Little Nightmares, we were aware that we were creating a game that was different from the others, but we were still surprised by the enthusiasm of the fans. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their support and we continue to work on the continuation of the franchise..”

Now part of Embracer Group, Tarsier Studios is currently working on a new IP. The project Little Nightmares 3 seems to be lost in limbo because the license remained in Bandai Namco’s bag of tricks, and now seems to be an orphan.
