According to an advisory released Thursday by the US Highway Traffic Safety Agency (NHTSA), software flaws, when activated, can cause the vehicle to continue straight when it has pulled into a lane that theoretically requires turning. A car with the FSD software engaged can also drive through an intersection with “stop” signs without coming to a complete stop, or drive through an intersection with steady amber lights without slowing down.
The operation does not require returning the vehicle to a Tesla checkpoint.
According to the Agency, the vehicles concerned can also “not reacting sufficiently to reported changes in speed limits” or failing to intervene when a driver exceeds the maximum authorized speed.
To remedy these defects, Tesla plans to update the software, at its expense, is it in the notice.
