The “Lioness” cast is richer by a big name: Oscar winner Morgan Freeman takes on a role in the Paramount + series.

Morgan Freeman (85) completes the cast of “Lioness”. This is reported by the industry portal “Deadline” citing Paramount+. The actor will play Edwin Mullins, Secretary of State of the United States, in the spy series. Just a few days ago, the streaming service announced that Nicole Kidman (55) would be seen alongside Zoe Saldana (44) and Laysla De Oliveira (30). Kidman was previously known to executive produce “Lioness” with her production company, Blossom Films.

Other cast members include Jill Wagner (43), Dave Annable (43), LaMonica Garrett (47), James Jordan (43), Austin Hébert, Hannah Love Lanier, Stephanie Nur (35) and Jonah Wharton. In the director’s chair is Taylor Sheridan (52, Oscar nomination for “Hell or High Water”), an experienced Hollywood great. The 52-year-old has already directed “1883” and “Mayor of Kingstown” for Paramount+.

That’s what “Lioness” is about

“Lioness” is based on an actually existing program of the CIA. Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira) is a young Marine soldier. She is recruited into the Lioness Engagement Team to take down a terrorist organization. Joe (Saldana) is the director of the Lioness program. She is responsible for training, managing and directing the undercover agents. Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) is a senior executive at the CIA. She has had a long career in politics.

The Paramount+ streaming service has only been available in Germany since December 8th. When the new series is planned for was not mentioned.
