Morning rituals of successful people BRIGITTE.de

Your morning routine is snooze, swallowing a headache pill and burning coffee? Then you can certainly use a few ideas on how to do it differently …

How we start the day in the morning can make a difference! For example, if we are woken up roughly, perhaps even in the middle of a stupid dream that gives us a bad feeling, and plunge into everyday stress, this is usually not a particularly favorable starting point to achieve top performance. Of course, even after the worst morning, you can turn the helm and make the day a good one. But most of the time it takes a lot more effort and effort than it would cost after a successful start.

Now, of course, everyone should find out for themselves which morning routine works for them in order to get them in the best possible shape for the day. For some it is simply more pleasant to snooze a little while others prefer to get up straight away. There is no single stand-up plan that works for all of us. But there are rituals that have proven themselves for many people and some of which make sense from a scientific point of view. And we can simply try out one or two of them and take them over if necessary.

7 things that successful people do in the morning

1. Get up early

Whether Mozart, Goethe, Matt Damon or Barack Obama, there are numerous prominent examples of successful people who got up very early – even if they didn't have to. There is a simple calculation behind it: Those who are awake longer have more time. However, getting up early really only pays off if you have gone to bed and slept in time – and have not searched for series until 3 a.m. …

2. Make bed

Isn't it worth making a bed? Then just leave it! It is just that, with very little effort, it can give us a very welcome impulse of happiness – just got up and already done something. In addition, a proper environment should also promote our emotional balance. And if that's really true, it might be worth investing the 30 seconds after getting up. It would certainly be worth a try.

3. Drink water

Jennifer Aniston is said to drink a glass of water with lemon every morning. Is that your big secret to success? In any case, it can't do any harm, because the body needs a lot of fluids in the morning, after all, it didn't get any for hours. Even slight dehydration can lead to a noticeable drop in performance, according to studies. If we fail to refuel in the morning, we are behind all day. It is also good for your metabolism and figure to start the day with a glass of water. So why not?

4. Sport

This is also said about Jennifer Aniston's morning routine: she starts practicing every day. The same applies to the men named Obama and Damon and many other successful people. Sure, there are advantages to being fit and looking on the one hand – the halo effect sends its regards. But morning sports also get our spirits going and get us in the mood for an active day. It doesn't have to be an hour and a half jogging or device workout! Ten minutes of yoga or body weight training are sufficient.

5. Gather yourself

We really do not like to say it, but … starting the day with entertainment, entertainment or work is not exactly typical for real starters – apart from workaholics maybe. The Dalai Lama takes time to meditate every morning, as does media reports, according to Jennifer Aniston, who apparently does pretty much everything right in her morning routine, wow! The same applies here: It doesn't have to be an hour of meditation with incense sticks, but you can breathe deeply for five minutes and listen to yourself – without a cell phone in hand – have never harmed anyone. Ommm!

6. Be thankful

Make bed, exercise, collect – yes, we are running out of time in our imagination (although we get up extra early for this …). But we can combine this ritual with our short meditation and it only takes a little time anyway: focus on something we are thankful for. Focusing on something that makes us happy raises the mood and gives us motivation and energy. It is not known whether Jennifer Aniston cultivates the ritual of gratitude in the morning – but from a neurological and psychological point of view there are some indications that we still get used to it anyway.

7. Make a plan for the day

In order to simply live into the day and make something of it, a person must either be incredibly cultivated or be stupid above average – and most people are somewhere in between. That is why it has proven useful for many to take something in the morning that they want to achieve during the day. From a detailed daily schedule with to-dos and times to a resolution such as "I want to say no to one thing", everything is allowed and appropriate – depending on where we are in life and where we want to go.
