Mortal Kombat 1: Quan Chi will invade Earthrealm on December 21

Partner of Shang Tsung, a sophisticated criminal and pact with darkness, Quan Chi returns with a new friend: a horrible infernal creature halfway between an octopus and a Chernobyl crab. The dark magician can use his portals to strike the enemy with the creature’s tentacles, or to change the angles of his attacks, as in Mortal Kombat movements of his opponent. His Fatality, rather successful, involves microscope slides with a rather… innovative use.

The Khameleon kameo (it’s not easy to repeat quickly)

Quan Chi came accompanied by the kameo character Khameleon, a reptilian woman with equally pale skin who can imitate the three main female ninjas. Sorry for Skarlet and Tanya fans. Khameleon’s mechanics are not yet clear, but she has access to Kitana’s fans; she can also enchant the main fighter to allow him to pass through projectiles, Jade’s old specialty. The very end of the trailer also provides a first glimpse of Peacemaker, a DLC character set to join the fight in February 2024. John Cena will still play the role of this eccentric freedom warrior, a kind of bastard cross between Captain America, Deadpool and huge daddy issues.

Aside from pure gameplay, Ed Boon also confirmed that the story of Mortal Kombat 1 will continue in a dedicated story expansion. The post-credits scene already tickled our curiosity by placing its pawns. No date announced yet. NetherRealm also promises a “big surprise” after this narrative pack, and insists that Mortal Kombat 1 will benefit from the longest follow-up ever seen for their stable. Which will not necessarily make it bestbut let’s see.

Quan Chi will be available from December 14 for Kombat Pack 1 owners and from December 21 for common mortals. The opportunity to remind you that the pale mage is already in Story mode and that NetherRealm is making fun of us a little on this one. Same schmilblick for Khameleon, who will wait until January 2024.
