Last August, after the success of Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm Studios has finally decided to put aside the development of Injustice 3 to dedicate full-time to a new iteration in their series of fighting games, Mortal Kombat 12. It was also during last night that Jonathan Andersen, the producer of the license, posted a photo on his Twitter account, which, after analysis, would show that the studio is actively working on this new MK12.
This voluntary “leak”, this image, which you can see just below, was published temporarily, the producer of Mortal Kombat having removed it after long minutes, when the rumor had already started to gain momentum.
By analyzing the details of the image, we find on the screen of one of the two computers a file called “MK12_Mast” as well as’part of mail saying this: “Our fans scour the internet with great fervor, looking for the slightest trace. Be very careful with this content“. We clearly have the impression that here, everything has been orchestrated to pass on discreet information about MK12, which only the most seasoned will be able to find, but it was without counting on the entire Internet who relayed this information.
In addition to this, we find on the image many references to Mortal Kombat 1 and Mortal Kombat 2, which put side by side appear as an index, the 1 and the 2 forming a 12. All this would therefore be a series of leaks planned by the studio to raise the hype around his future game. Mortal Kombat 12 therefore seems indeed in development and should arrive in the near future, especially after the success of MK11, this is the right time to capitalize on this license!
