Moscow says it destroyed 20 Ukrainian drones targeting the Crimean peninsula

Russia claimed early Saturday that it foiled an attempted attack by 20 Ukrainian drones targeting targets on the Crimean peninsula.

“Last night, the attempted terrorist attack of the kyiv regime by twenty drones against targets on the territory of the Crimean peninsula was foiled”the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Telegram.

Fourteen Ukrainian drones were destroyed by air defense systems and another six by electronic warfare means, he said. The attack caused no casualties and no damage, the ministry added.

The Russian army announced on Friday that it had destroyed a Ukrainian drone in western Moscow, amid an increase in such attacks targeting the Russian capital.

“The drone was neutralized by electronic warfare means and crashed in a forest area west of Moscow”the Russian Defense Ministry said on Telegram, accusing “the kyiv regime”. The Russian military said the drone was aimed “an installation on the territory of Moscow”without giving details of the potential target of the device.

The mayor of Moscow had, for his part, indicated earlier that the drone had crashed “without doing significant damage” in a forest park on the banks of the Moskva River, which runs through the Russian capital.

In late July and early August, drones were shot down over the business district of Moscow, in the west of the Russian capital, causing slight damage to the facade of two towers. In May, two drones were shot down over the Kremlin.
