Moselle: the charred corpse of a man discovered in Behren-lès-Forbach


The Sarreguemines prosecutor’s office announced, Thursday evening, March 17, to have discovered the body of a completely charred man in Behren-lès-Forbach (Moselle).

According to the public prosecutor, Olivier Glady, the body did not bear “traces of apparent violence”.

The body was found near a shed in the city’s allotment gardens, mostly derelict. It was an agent carrying out topographical surveys who made the macabre discovery.

The work of identifying the victim is in progress, “thanks to the clothes, tattoos and personal effects” found near the body, said the prosecution. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Strasbourg.

A “worrying disappearance” reported at the beginning of the month

The investigation opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy was entrusted to the Behren-lès-Forbach gendarmerie brigade, supported by the Forbach research section.

In addition, the prosecutor indicated that a “worrying disappearance” had been reported “in the locality” at the beginning of the month.
