  • Former US President Barack Obama has won an Emmy for the first time.
  • The 61-year-old was honored in the Best Narrator category for his speaking role in the Netflix documentary series Our Great National Parks.
  • In the five-part series, which Obama also co-produced, he presents national parks from all over the world.

This was announced by the US television academy on Saturday evening (local time). Among the other Emmy nominees in this category were Lupita Nyong’o and David Attenborough. The ex-president has already won two Grammy Awards, for the audio versions of his memoirs “The Audacity of Hope” and “A Promised Land”.

The Emmys are America’s most important television awards. The winners in the main categories will be announced at a gala in Los Angeles on September 12th. The first awards in various technical and creative categories will be presented beforehand.
