Easter is just around the corner and the weather is mostly kind to us.
No matter what activities you choose to do over the Easter days, the Easter weather has something for every taste and the weather looks pretty good, especially for outdoor activities.
Rough overview of the Swiss Easter weather
Just at the beginning of the public holidays, a high altitude low will hit Switzerland on Good Friday and make for April weather that is prone to showers. Behind it we are on the edge of a high from Holy Saturday to Easter Monday. As a result, the sun shines at times. More showers are possible, but are exceptional.

indoor weather
On Good Friday you can spend the whole day on the sofa in both the north and the south without a guilty conscience and devote yourself to an exciting book or the latest series. Tip: Especially in the west there are a few rays of sunshine during the day: pulling the curtains helps against a bad conscience.
ski weather
At Easter, many are drawn to the slopes for the last time. The weather and the Snow conditions for skiing fun play along. Up to and including Good Friday, it mostly remains frosty in the mountains during the day. So the snow won’t be too much of a problem until the Easter weekend. On Good Friday, snow showers above 700 to 1000 m ensure freshly snowed slopes. In addition, the sun shines at times, especially from Holy Saturday. Tip: The most hours of sunshine can be found on the slopes in Valais and the Friborg Alps as well as in the Bernese Oberland.
Hiking and biking weather
Nothing stands in the way of an Easter hike. It’s not too cold, but not too warm either: at 1000 m the temperatures at Easter are around 10 degrees. After the partly wet Good Friday, you usually stay dry when hiking between Holy Saturday and Easter Monday and at times the sun warms you up. Tip: Above 1000 m there is snow in places. In addition, to be on the safe side, rain protection, especially in the central and eastern mountains, also belongs in the hiking backpack from Holy Saturday.

Sailors and wingfoilers get their money’s worth on Holy Saturday. Especially between Lake Biel and Lake Geneva, the bise attracts quite a bit. Mean wind around 20 km/h, gusts between 40 and 60 km/h. Tip: The thick neoprene suit is mandatory: current water temperature of Lake Neuchâtel around 7 degrees.

The Easter days are ideal for gardening. The rain protection is only used again and again on Friday. The nights are getting a little milder again and only the most sensitive plants need to be protected because of the risk of ground frost. However, it is still too cool for an Easter brunch in the garden. At 10 a.m. on Easter, the temperatures in the Central Plateau are only around 7 degrees. Tip: Allergy sufferers better have their nasal spray and eye drops ready: Birch pollen is in high concentrations in the air.
Europe weather
The following applies to Easter weather in Europe: the further south-west, the sunnier and warmer it is. For example Porto: mostly sunny around 26 degrees. The further east, the cooler and the more likely it is to shower: Vienna around 8 degrees, at times wet.
