As the canton police in Innerrhoden announced on Tuesday, a mother and her daughter fell to their deaths around 400 meters above the Seealpsee between Alp Weesen and Altenalp. The family from the canton of Thurgau was on Monday from Äscher on the Höhenweg in the direction of Altenalp. Shortly after the “Füessler” junction after the Weesen pasture area, the 31-year-old mother and 5-year-old daughter slipped down the steep slope for reasons that are still unknown.

Despite an intensive search that was immediately initiated using all available means, the two were only found dead in the steep terrain. They were then rescued by Rega. The care team from the two cantons of Appenzell was deployed to look after the family members.
