Mothers Study: Being a mom is as hard as 2.5 full-time jobs

Being a mom is the toughest job of all – mothers probably already know that. A study also proves that this is not just a feeling.

No question about it, being a mom is not only the most beautiful but also the most arduous task in the world. At night you are happy if you can even sleep a few hours at a time, then in the morning, at noon and in the evening, if possible, there should be healthy food on the table while the laundry feels like it is piled under the covers. Oh yes, and then of course the child, the dog and the partner also want attention. How do you bring it all under one roof? Actually a matter of impossibility. Also shows a study by the American juice brand "Welchs".

How did the scientists come up with this?

2000 mothers with children between five and twelve were asked about their everyday life. It turned out that they are busy being mum for more than 14 hours a day: So we're talking about household chores, having fun with children, cooking food … That adds up to an unbelievable 100 hours in the whole week – this corresponds to the working hours of two and a half full-time jobs .

To-do lists that never end

The survey also showed when mothers, on average, deal with children and households. Unfortunately, no surprise: the day starts early and ends late. Between 6:23 am and 8:31 pm, the mothers work through their usual to-do lists. And for 40 percent of those surveyed, they feel like they just never end.

And when do mothers take a break?

Well, that's a good question – almost never actually. The study has shown that mothers have just one hour and seven minutes a day to themselves. It is very clear that this will eventually get down to business. All you can do is bow to all the mothers in the world and say: You are more than superheroes! And if you have doubts about yourself in between – maybe it helps a little to keep reminding yourself of that.
