Motocrosser Stauffer – From horror crash back to the bike in 222 days

After breaking three vertebrae in November, motocross rider Marcel Stauffer is back in the starting line-up for a race. The 23-year-old fought every day for his comeback and is now being rewarded.

The “Krone” caught motocross rider Marcel Stauffer just as he was loading up. Where are we going? To the first race since his serious fall last November. As a reminder: During a training session in Italy, the Nussdorf native broke two cervical and one thoracic vertebrae. At first, the doctors couldn’t say whether he would ever be able to pursue his passion again. But the 2023 national champion fought every day to return. At the beginning of May, the 23-year-old celebrated his first respectable success and trained on his bike for the first time.Comeback in the Czech RepublicJust one and a half months later, he is competing against the competition again. “The anticipation is very great. I’m really looking forward to being behind the starting gate again,” says Marcel, looking forward to the start like a child looks forward to his first Christmas. His comeback 222 days after the accident will take place at the Czech Championships in Prerov. There he will compete for the Osicka MX Team in the MX2 class. “I’m excited. I want to know where I stand and then I want to continue working from there. The main thing is to have fun,” emphasises the man from Flachgau. Looking back, he is only a little surprised by the good healing process: “It actually went extremely quickly. But that was also because I tried to do everything I could every day to heal. I think that was a big factor too.” He is also “really grateful that everything is back to normal and that it turned out so well.”
