Many well-known manufacturers are working on such a smartphone, but only one company has so far managed to show a working model that has never found its way onto the market. Motorola wants to change that, getting ahead of Samsung and Xiaomi.

Motorola is working on a rollable smartphone

The rollable smartphone is currently considered “impossible”. LG has already shown a prototype, but then simply left the smartphone market. Samsung and Xiaomi want to build rollable smartphones, but have not yet shown a working device or brought it to market. Now a new player comes on board. Motorola no longer wants to focus only on foldable smartphones, but is now also planning a rollable smartphone. The code name is “Felix” (Source: 91mobiles).

However, Motorola does not want to extend its roll-out smartphone to the side like the competition in order to be able to turn the cell phone into a small tablet, but is sticking with the previous idea of its folding cell phones. The display extends from bottom to top, so that the screen gains height. According to Evan Blass, Motorola is pursuing a clear concept. The company wants to make smartphones more compact for carrying in your pocket. It will then increase in size as you use it.

Samsung has many ideas for new smartphones:

When is Motorola’s rollable smartphone coming?

According to the source, “Felix” is currently still at a very early stage of development. So early that the specially adapted software has to be tested on “Edge 30 Pro” smartphones, since there is not even a working prototype available. So it should be a few months, if not years, before Motorola presents a finished smartphone here and launches it on the market.

It is clear, however, that after foldable smartphones, rollable devices are very popular. However, the development work is much more extensive, so that all manufacturers are currently struggling.
