Motorola has formalized its new range of smartphones in Europe. On the menu, Edge 30 Ultra, Edge 30 Fusion and Edge 30 Neo, the first of which is distinguished by its main 200-megapixel photo sensor.

The smartphones had been formalized in China in August, they are now making their debut in Europe. The new Edge 30s now take the name Motorola Edge 30 Ultra (Edge X30 Pro in China), Edge 30 Fusion and Edge 30 Neo.

It is of course the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra that we retain from this wave of novelties. In addition to its resolutely high-end technical sheet, the smartphone includes a first on the smartphone market: a 200 megapixel photo sensor. It is indeed the Isocell HP1 signed Samsung, presented in the fall of 2021 and which was wisely awaiting its integration into a first smartphone. Operation which took many months, so much so that Samsung has formalized in the meantime a second generation of 200 megapixel sensors, the Isocell HP3. Anyway, Motorola intends to impose itself on the photophone market using this sensor, accompanied by a stabilized wide-angle (f / 2) optics.

This sensor is not alone, since on the back of the device there is also an ultra-wide-angle and macro module with a 50-megapixel sensor, autofocus and f/2 optics, 2. A 12 megapixel sensor (f / 1.6 optics) brings up the rear, offering a 2x zoom geared towards recording portraits. We also note the possibility of filming in 8K at 30 fps. On the front, Motorola is also playing big and opting for a 60-megapixel sensor accompanied by f / 2.2 optics, with an HDR mode. Suffice to say that we can’t wait to test the whole thing.

For the rest, the Edge 30 Ultra has a 6.7-inch OLED screen displaying 1080 x 2400 pixels and benefiting from a refresh rate of 144 Hz. It benefits from the latest generation of Qualcomm chips, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flanked by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, but also a 4610 mAh battery compatible with ultra-fast charging at 125 W. Wireless charging is on the menu, but we note the absence of waterproof certification (it is only IP52 certified) on this premium model. Its marketing is scheduled for September at a price of 899 €, on a price range that Motorola had abandoned for several years.

More classic Edge Fusion and Neo

The Lenovo brand is still thinking about lower budgets and is offering its new Edge 30s in two other versions. The Edge 30 Fusion is the mid-range of the series, with its 6.5-inch OLED screen too, Full HD +, curved and going up to 144 Hz. It makes some compromises in the field of performance, preferring to Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 the older Snapdragon 888+, and accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Its 4400 mAh battery is associated with wired charging at 68 W. Finally, its photo component is more classic, since its triple photo block has a main 50 megapixel module, a second 13 megapixel with an ultra wide-angle serving also to the macro, and finally a depth sensor of 2 megapixels. Count 699 € for this model expected in September.

The smartphone includes a dual photo module (64 megapixels for the main one, 13 megapixels for a versatile module used for ultra wide-angle, macro and depth measurement) and a 4020 mAh battery with wired charging at 68 W and wireless charging. An IP52 certification is also part of this smartphone announced at 399 € for marketing in September.
